Safeguarding our shared successes in Nepal

Responsibility and Reliability Across Decades

To date, Back to Life e.V. has built and equipped 45 school buildings, 18 birthing centers, 20 water systems, a residential home for deaf children and two hospitals. We have also launched 80 preschools and made possible a fully equipped cardiology department in a provincial hospital. Further infrastructure projects are under construction, because safe births, clean water and education are still far from a given in Nepal.

For our infrastructure projects (birthing centers, schools, water systems), local partners are required to take over maintenance costs after handover. Transferring projects into local hands is right and important. At the same time, the care and maintenance of buildings quickly become weak points in development work. Local partners are often unable to bear the costs.

Long-Term, Sustainable Planning

To ensure that existing and future buildings remain safe and usable, we have to plan donation funds for the long term, independently of current donation income. Our non-profit association Back to Life e.V. can guarantee this only to a limited extent, because donations received there must be used promptly and may not be held in reserve for future needs.

While the association is therefore well suited to development projects with a foreseeable duration, the new Foundation is the guardian of the successes we have already achieved. According to its statutes, the non-profit Foundation Company mbH serves the sole purpose of promoting the development cooperation of Back to Life e.V. This gives lasting protection to the valuable work of our association.
